The Forest Guardian | Print
From $220
The New Zealand Kererū carries a gentle, protective presence. Heavy-bodied and unmistakably “chunky”, it moves through the forest with surprising grace, its slow flight and distinctive whooshing wingbeat impossible to ignore. In Māori tradition, the Kererū is seen as a messenger between the human and spirit worlds and a guardian of the forest. Its presence feels ancient, as though it carries stories between places seen and unseen. This is less a portrait of a bird and more capturing a state of connection.
The Kererū brings a sense of balance, belonging, and gentle reassurance to its surroundings, inviting a deeper connection with nature and with ourselves. With its calm, grounding energy, this artwork is well suited to a living room, reading nook, or entranceway, creating a space for reflection, connection, and quiet wellbeing.
